Mortgage rates stay under 5 percent
Long-term U.S. mortgage rates stayed below 5 percent for the second straight week, according to Freddie Mac’s weekly rate report.
The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage in the week ending March 11 was 4.95 percent, down from 4.97 percent last week, according to Freddie Mac. A year ago, 30-year mortgages averaged 5.03 percent.
One-year adjustable-rate mortgages averaged 4.22 percent this week, down from 4.27 percent the previous week.
